Fats and some other substances are the forms of lipids that are required by our body. In biochemistry, a fatty acid is a carboxylic acid with a long unbranched aliphatic tail (chain), which is either saturated or unsaturated. It is now known that lipids play a much more important role in the body than previously believed. They also are a key component in cell membrane structure.
